fantastic fundraising!

macmillan coffee morningOn Friday 26th September people across the world met to share cake, coffee and conversation in support of the MacMillan Coffee Morning. Our residents in sheltered schemes made a huge effort to support this amazing event by baking and buying an enticing selection of sweet treats while doors to communal lounges were opened to welcome in the wider community to join the fun.
From Betty’s marvellous butterfly cakes at Wallace House to Ivy’s mountain of rock cakes at Barlow Road, staff and residents came together to play games, raise money and perhaps most importantly, eat cake. A grand total of £1,204.70 was raised!

A huge and heartfelt ‘thanks, and well done’ should be passed on to all of those who helped to raise so much money for such a fantastic cause. Many residents said that they and loved ones had been supported by MacMillan nurses, with one gentleman commenting “MacMillan offered great comfort to me and my late wife. It’s been lovely to see so many people come together to support such a good cause.”

At present the amount donated to MacMillan from similar events across the globe stands at well over one million pounds, with the total projected to rise well beyond this.
