Let’s be mindful of Mental Health Week…

Traditionally every year between the 11th -17th May the Mental Health Foundation strives to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues in society.

The awareness week was initially set up in 2000 so that the public could engage in debates about how anxiety, sleep deprivation and exercise can impact our mental health. It aspires to come up with positive solutions to combating and dealing with mental health issues that can otherwise affect us at some point during our day to day lives.

The theme for this year will be mindfulness which is being promoted by the Mental Health Foundation and supported by the NHS 2gether Foundation Trust. Mindfulness is a recognised form of mental and physical training that uses techniques such as meditation, breathing and yoga to help people manage and gain a better understanding of their emotions.

The Trust will be tackling mental health issues by running a couple of events to encourage people to engage and take part in Mental Health Week 2015.happy-healthy-people

Next week we will be supporting Mental Health Week 2015 by posting one of the Five Steps to improving your Mental Wellbeing each day with advice on how to fulfil these positive and life changing steps.

Why not stimulate your thought processes by coming along to the NHS’s Let’s Talk session which is due to take place on Tuesday 12 May 2015 12:30pm – 1:30 pm at Conference Room 2, Charlton Lane Centre.
