How to save a life – EVERY second counts

heart-1143648_1920Did you know that every second “after a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and defibrillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10 per cent.”

This is an alarming statistic that can be significantly reduced though the use of CPR or a public access defibrillator – it is important that if you are on your own that you don’t delay or interrupt chest compressions, when you can, send someone else to find one.

If you come across someone who is not breathing you will need to act fast by calling 999 and starting CPR, you do not need to be trained to use a defibrillator and they are very easy to use. Once the defibrillator is open, all you have to do is follow the spoken instructions.

The Powerheart G5 AED defibrillator has been placed in all four of our main offices at the following locations:

Cheltenham House, Clarence Street, GL50 3JR
Oakley Resource Centre, 113a Clyde Crescent, GL52 5QL
Hester’s Way Community Resource Centre, Cassin Drive, GL51 7SU
Depot, Swindon Road, GL51 9JZ

This advanced piece of equipment has also been registered on the national database and is available for anyone to use – no training required.
