Attention all Dog owners – free microchipping events

From April 2016 it will become a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped; which is why councils across Gloucestershire will be holding events to allow dog owners to have their dogs microchipped for free.

CBC will be taking part in the scheme, which provides Cheltenham residents with the opportunity to get their dog microchipped before the change in law takes place.

This is a great opportunity for dog owners to save £20 with the knowledge that should their dog become lost or stolen, there is a greater chance of their furballs being identified and returned.

Dogs can only be chipped if they and their owners live in the catchment of the appropriate council.

Events will be taking place Wednesday 9th March:

  • STROUD, Stratford Park Leisure Centre, Stroud 12.30pm – 5.30pm
  • CHELTENHAM, Cheltenham Animal Shelter 12pm- 7pm
  • COTSWOLDS, Kingshill Sports Complex, Cirencester 10am – 6.30pm
  • FOREST OF DEAN, Hawthorn Pet Supplies, Cinderford 12pm – 5pm
  • GLOUCESTER, Plock Court Tennis Centre 12pm – 7pm

The Gloucester event will have advice available for those considering adding a puppy to their family. The Gloucestershire Police will also be on hand at the Gloucester event to raise awareness about walking your dog near livestock.
