Our Housing Support Team in line for top award

health-care-awardsA successful partnership between CBH and Cheltenham General Hospital has been nominated for a top award showcasing all that is great about health and social care in Gloucestershire.

One of three finalists in the Gloucestershire Health & Social Care Awards 2016, our housing support team has been nominated, alongside Cheltenham General Hospital’s Falls Assessment and Education Service, in the ‘Together we achieve Award’ category.

This category recognises the value of joint working to deliver high quality services to the local community. The nomination is in recognition of the successful Falls Awareness Days CBH delivered in partnership with Cheltenham General Hospital and other care and support organisations.

Our Housing Support Team Leader  Michele Walker, said: “This has been a really positive experience for the team and the support from external partners has been astounding. We would like to extend our thanks to Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist, Kerrie Hodges and her team at the Falls Assessment and Education Service at Cheltenham General Hospital for the nomination. She has been a great advocate for promoting our services. We are looking forward to developing more positive partnerships with the NHS.”

Over the last 12 months we have developed a new, enhanced service to help people remain independent in their own home. By working closely with a variety of external partners, we have managed to provide a diverse range of life changing events including:

  • CBC Lifeline team who offered information and advice on alarm equipment and telecare for people living in their own homes
  • Badhams pharmacy provided wellbeing checks
  • The Trust Healthy Lifestyles team offered information and advice on availability of services in Cheltenham and nutrition advice
  • Gloucestershire Fire Service provided information and advice on home safety checks
  • Local opticians gave information and advice on the importance of having sight checks

The winners of the Gloucestershire Health & Social Care Awards 2016 will be crowned on Tuesday 8th November at a glitzy ceremony held at Gloucester Cathedral.
