Community hub swings along to festive party

Christmas may be over but we’re still talking about the ‘Knit and Knatter’ group who got to showcase their festive singing talents at a fabulous Christmas party.

This fantastic event took place on Thursday 22 December at our Wallace House Hub and was organised by Samantha Mullaney on behalf of Brandon Trust.

The Knit and Knatter group, which is run by Brandon Trust, offers weekly sessions at our Wallace House Hub  and collects a small fee of £1 from each of the attendees to cover the cost of refreshments and materials. Any funds left over are saved up throughout the year and used to purchase any additional extras needed for their end of year Christmas party. This year the knitters held a festive craft fayre to showcase their creative designs and decided to use the money that they had collected  to fund the amazing Gloucester Strings Ukulele Club at their festive get together.

The hub’s partygoers were brimming with excitement as they sang along to the Ukulele band’s contemporary spin on Christmas songs. Lots of cheers and clapping ensued as the band members donned plenty of tinsel and festive accessories to mark the occasion. The day ended with a delicious buffet packed with all the trimmings, including opportunities to meet and catch up with new and old friends.

Caroline Walker, CBH Head of Community Services said: “It’s been a great year for the ‘Knit and Knatter’ group who have created an impressive array of knitted creations. We would like to extend our thanks to the Brandon Trust’s Social Inclusion Project Leader Samantha Mullaney  for dong such a wonderful job of running these sessions and to Carol Gatter who is the creative brains behind these fabulous designs. This is a great example of the positive working partnership that we have with Brandon Trust to deliver social events that bring together local residents and the wider community.”

Knit and Knatter sessions is fully inclusive to everyone and takes place at Wallace House Community Hub every Thursday between the hours of 10:30am to 12:30pm and cost a small fee of £1 for refreshments.
