Successful event brings community together

Yesterday (Thursday 29 June) we held a special event to invite the local people to come along and get involved in making a difference to the appearance of a neighbourhood in Cheltenham called the Moors.

Known as ‘The Moors Impact Day’ the event was organised by us to bring together residents and local organisations to find out what is important to them and their community.

Thanks to the support received from local organisations, those who attended had a great time getting involved in the community clean up scheme. A removal service was also on site during the afternoon to help residents dispose of any unwanted bulky waste items. Green fingers were also put the test as everyone came together to spruce up the area with a stunning selection of free plants and pots from Council Nurseries.

Caroline Walker, Head of Community Services for CBH said: “What a fantastic day! We organised this unique event as we felt that this would be a great opportunity to further engage with the community to get their views on the area. It was great to see everyone having fun and taking part in the activities. I would like to thank all our partners for their astounding support in making it a great event for all.”

Appetites were whet with a delicious buffet and refreshments followed by an opportunity to enter a raffle for a £50 food voucher.

A special appearance was made by Boris the Police Horse and visitors were able to browse a series of information stands full of free advice from local organisations.

The fun didn’t end there as there was exciting mix of activities on hand for kids and their families to flex their creative talents, including circus skills and learning all about the art of scrapbooking.

The event was organised in partnership with Cheltenham Borough Council (CBC), The Rock, Big Local, Families First, Inspiring Families, Gloucestershire Police, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Ubico, Council Nurseries, Bersche-Rolt and World Jungle.
