We’re delighted to announce that our life changing Help2 programme has been selected for the first phase of the John Lewis Community Matters programme.
Today the John Lewis & Partners Cheltenham store revealed that we are one of three local organisations that it will be supporting as part of its local charitable giving scheme - Community Matters.
The scheme will run for 12 weeks from Thursday 18 October 2018 (the shop's opening day), and will finish towards the end of January 2019 when a new set of three charities will be chosen.
Local customers will be able to vote for one of the three chosen charities in store with tokens that they have collected after making a purchase.
At the end of the voting period John Lewis will share the £3,000 donation between the charities and the split in funds will be determined by the number of tokens that each organisation has received.
David Hall, Housing Services Manager, Cheltenham Borough Homes, said:
“We are delighted to have been chosen to be part of the John Lewis Community Matters scheme. We have seen our ‘Help2’ scheme make a real difference for a number of people’s lives and it is exciting to think that John Lewis will be able to support us in this. Every penny counts in these situations and even a little can go a long way to help people who are facing exceptional hardship.”
We’ve got our fingers and toes crossed – be sure to keep an eye out for us when the Cheltenham store opens next month! If you get any green tokens and would like to vote for our scheme, all you need to do is pop it into the designated Help2 charity box!
More about Help2:
The Help2 programme was created by employees at Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) to identify tenants who find themselves in unexpected financial hardship and are facing exceptionally difficult circumstances.
Our employees often volunteer their time to help out with projects and wherever possible they make use of exciting relationships with our own suppliers and partners to source goods and services to maximise the support that is available to tenants.
The use of a discretionary fund is used to provide extra assistance in the shape of goods, vouchers, or services to help individuals and families.
