Last evening, a council owned home on Springbank Way was affected by fire. Residents affected by the fire are being fully supported by Cheltenham Borough Council and Cheltenham Borough Homes.
Councillor Victoria Atherstone, cabinet member for housing at Cheltenham Borough Council, said: “We are giving full support to those affected by last night’s fire, which directly affected one property, and the wider community. We had officers on scene, as well as on standby, to offer assistance together with partner agencies.
“The residents nearby were evacuated from the homes last night but have since been able to return home. Our officers have visited homes this morning to check on the welfare of the residents and if there is anything they need. The tenant directly affected is in hospital and we will of course provide every assistance, when they are able to leave.
“Events like this are incredibly upsetting for our residents and we will continue to do all we can to further offer our support.”
There are no immediate housing needs for any of the neighbouring residents. The council will be supporting the emergency services as they work to understand the cause of the fire.
